U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin Recommends Partnering of VA Hospitals With Private Rehab Facilities

June 30, 2008U.S. Senator Dick Durbin

The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s (RIC) Brain Injury Program and commitment to our nation’s injured service men and women was recognized this week by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin. In a letter (below) directed to the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Dr. James Peake, Durbin praises RIC’s clinical excellence and reputation for making a difference in the lives of our nation’s injured service men and women.

Durbin encourages a formal visit to RIC’s facility to observe our world-renowned clinical care model which is fueled by innovative research and technology.

His letter reinforces that RIC stands ready to work with the VA to provide the best rehabilitation care to our nation’s injured war heroes. This comes as part of a request that the VA exercise the authority provided by Congress to collaborate with private rehabilitation facilities like RIC to treat service men and women returning from combat with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
